E Pluribus Unum

A couple of weeks ago I went with a few students to the launch of former Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s new venture, E Pluribus Unum. This is an initiative to begin to have deeper conversations about race and hopefully improve race relations in the country. The clip below is an overview.

There were a couple of great panels that we enjoyed, and then, along with some of the fund’s advisors, including UNCF president Dr. Michael Lomax, our students along with some from Xavier, Loyola, UNO, and Delgado, engaged in some deeper discussions.

My pride was watching our students exhibit what I have called #RelentlessExcellence. As soon as the sessions were over, they were networking with the panelists, getting their information, finding out how to get more involved. I literally had to round them up for the lunch session because they were still working the room.

During the luncheon they often were the ones to report out from their table discussions, and continued to network (like with the former Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter above).

I had only 1 senior. 2 are sophomores, 2 are freshmen. None of them were scared. I was happy just watching them do what I want all Dillard students doing.

So I didn’t mind being their driver for the day. It was an honor.
