We Will Miss You, Aaron.
This is a quick note to share that an active member of the Medium writing community, Aaron Bramley, passed away two days ago per a public announcement from his Facebook page.
Aaron used Medium to share his battles not only with cancer, but with his health insurance carrier as well. He shared his stories in hopes of helping others, and Aaron DID help others. He was the co-founder of Lights Camera Help, which gives nonprofits tools to tell their stories through film, and Texas Freelance Association, which provides support service to freelancers. He also created The Digital Champion, where he collected health insurance horror stories in hopes of affecting change in the healthcare system.
I was acquaintances with Aaron through my work at LIVESTRONG Foundation, where he generously donated his story to our marketing efforts. Our paths crossed often in the tech world of Austin, and I was always impressed and inspired by his humanitarian efforts. Even when his cancer struggles got overwhelming, Aaron was quick to offer a smile, a joke, a hand or an ear. He embodied strength and bravery. Austin, and the world, won’t be the same without him in it.
Before he passed, Aaron set up a GoFundMe where we could contribute towards the future education of his one-year-old son, Finn. Consider donating if you can, and please consider going through Aaron Bramley’s Medium page to see what positive change he put into this world.
We will miss you, Aaron. None of this seems fair.
