History Podcast Listener Survey

Several weeks ago I solicited responses for a listener survey. Not only did this extend to my own podcast but also to a few different history podcast focused communities I am involved in. I promised that I should share the results with the world, and finally, that is going to happen. See below for a bunch of graphs and some attempts at analysis. If you haven’t taken the survey but you would like to it is still available over on Survey Monkey, if there are enough responses I will update this post to reflect them.

We will start with the simple demographics information questions.

Next lets move into how people consume their podcasts.

Now lets look at what podcasting formats people prefer.

Finally, lets look at premium podcasts. Many long running history podcasts have some form a premium content or membership so it seemed natural to poll the audience on if they would be interested in such premium content and what they found to be the most important features.

The survey had about 88 responses, which isn’t a huge number. Some statistics research says that with this sample size the reasonable margin of error expectation is about 10 percent. Obviously there are all kinds of statistical problems with this survey, but it is a start.
