Girl, that she is.

Have you seen her lately?
Did you notice her?
Were you aware she’s standing there,
In the middle of the crowd,
Wearing her most beautiful crown,
While all of whom she cared about
Kept tearing her heart down,
Waiting for her to surrender.
But she did not.
She was never going to.
She knows herself better,
What she deserves, what she wants,
She promised them they will never see her falter.
Her father told her:
Be with people who see you not only for the good things,
But with people who have seen you on your worse days,
Who will never take you for granted,
Who’d still be there even when you’re empty-handed.
Her mother told her:
Do not go with someone who can sit all day,
After a fight, and feel rather okay.
Be with a man who’s not afraid,
Who will come back after awhile,
Who will not let her beg down on her knees,
Pleading for her man to stay.
Her sister told her:
Be wise, or else she’ll end up hurting,
Follow the whispers of the heart,
Or she’ll end up like her mother.
So I am telling you this,
If you see her now,
If you know a girl,
A girl whose eyes burns with fire,
Who walks and talks like a wild flower,
Standing there, she’ll be beaming with rays.
And if one of these days,
Her lightness will catch your sight, ablazed,
Do not love her for her shining,
Love her for the darkness,
The mystery from her past unbecoming.
Admire her, do not deceive her
With words of gold that can tarnish
That can blind her,
That can make the light that once was her only power,
Dimmed, until you can no longer recognize her,
The girl I told you about,
Told beautiful things,
The one who was a woman of her own
Even without a man, before you came along.
Spare her the fate that was her mother’s,
Bleed for her or go look for some another.
