Truly excellent stuff Seth. You’re spot on here: YouTube is NOT broadcast. It’s a communication medium that affords you a repository for your know how and wisdom. Produce video content that answers questions and helps solve problems and out of this will flow relationships and commercial activity. The aim is not to ‘delight’ and ‘surprise’; your content production efforts should be wholly and exclusively manifesting your business model. Social media, including YouTube, is a process for generating relationships one at a time. It is not a collection of channels reaching an ‘audience’; each audience is a person of one and you build your relationships one at a time. That’s how it works offline and also how it works online too.
