presidential timber

Timber! as in watch out for the falling tree, but that’s another story, unless you’re just not getting any votes, then timber! to your presidential aspirations, dreams, ambitions, and, awwww, you just wanted it so bad, it’s sad, now even your own kids are embarrassed for you, I mean, more than usual.

But, what does it take be a president, what are the defining character traits that we as a nation gravitate towards when selecting a president? OK, so just what do, Obama, Bush2, BClinton, Bush Elder, Reagan, Carter, Ford, Nixon, Johnson, Kennedy, Ike, Truman, FDR etc. have in common, Hoover, Coolidge, Wilson another Rosevelt, the list goes back a ways from there, so, what do they share besides being on a pretty select history list?

I have no idea, and what are we looking for now? do we even know? I don’t think it’s always what they say, but it’s how they say it, great communicators, men that can drone on and on and we at least pretend to hang onto every word, and of course, care.

I’m pretty sure all these guys understood their moment, knew that moment and knew how to address that moment, in such a way that got them elected, Elected, whatever that may mean, I mean sometimes it’s a popular vote thing, sometimes it isn’t, sometimes elections are stolen, the will of the people is thwarted, though, never bad enough for the people to leave their yards and march or anything. But the important thing is, regardless of the particular means, these guys are the ones that made it. Why?, is what I’m asking.

So, which one of these guys understands this moment? this moment? OK, forget that, which one of them is talking to me? no, really talking to me? Me personally? That’s right, we may vote as a nation, but it is each and every one of us that makes their decision and then votes, we then add them up and, well, I covered all that already.

So far, I’m just not feeling it, but I will, besides I don’t have to vote till later, hopefully there will be somebody that resonates with me still running at that time, we’ll see. But so far, I would have to say, that while I don’t like what either of them are saying, I tend to like the way Cruz and Sanders are saying it, at least for now, Trump has bad optics, big whiner, so does Hillary, and Jeb, Rubio, he might a VP, just thinking out loud, and blogging some.

There’s plenty of time for one of them to get it, and then pull away, that’s what happens, they’re all out there spitballing looking to see what sticks, trying to find something that resonates, works, that suddenly draws attention, crowds, and funding.

No one has caught fire yet, not one of these guys has truly seized the moment, though Sanders seems close at times, but not really, and certainly not with enough of us.

What is our place in this world?
