The Apple Privacy False Narrative

When you first hear this story you think wow!, what a dilemma! keep my privacy or stop terrorism, but relax, if the FBI or anybody else wanted to know who was called or who called into this alleged terrorist’s cell phone, the cell carrier (Verizon, at&t, T-Mobile etc,) has a complete public record of all activity from any phone on their network including this one, so what’s up?

Why is the government wanting to break down the encryption on this particular Apple device, an encryption which is designed to simply stop a thief or somebody who doesn’t own this phone from being able to use it. This encryption is a deterrent to thieves, why steal a phone if you can’t use it or sell it?

The government already has complete access to all call records, not sure what they’re after here.
