Humans are social animals. There’s no doubt about that. We rely on each other and we learn from each other. We do things in groups. While that has served us well from an evolutionary standpoint, there are some downsides too. History is littered with examples of society becoming too prescriptive on how life should be led and what ideas should dominate society. Imagine this: you’re a scientist from centuries ago and you would like to make a proposal to the world that the Earth isn’t actually at the center of the universe. It appears as though the Earth might be revolving around the Sun. Revolutionary ideas like these become a threat to the establishment and make people uncomfortable. After all, humans crave certainty and familiarity. This story should also apply to you. After all, your existence is a series of experiences. It can either be driven by those around you, or it can be driven by you! Sometimes life can feel like a test. The ones who succeed are the ones who write their own tests and determine their own fate. They muster the courage to create that new idea which will go against the norm. They develop the strength to continue pushing against adversity. For these set of people, it is intuition that counts. They develop the awareness and experience to tackle difficult situations. For them, life is an exam that they already know they will pass with flying colours. For them, it is more a question of how they will pass, rather than if. They don’t need to copy others because the answers are within.
