Babel is such an appropriate metaphor; everyone is talking, but there are so few conversations; because of course, dialogue doesn’t scale. The hype (or snake oil as Jessamyn so apply puts it) over promises so much that it miss-leads us down blind alleys, but the real destruction is in value extraction. It doesn’t just create an underclass, it is in the process of creating a feudal system that will become harder to change once we are locked in.
