Blessed are you Joel
From Matthew 13: 14–17
14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:
“‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
15 For this people’s heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them
16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. 17 For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it. (Emphasis added)
It is surprising that so many people depend on the Bible, but do not understand the spirit of Jesus within these words. The world needs a healing, but just like Jesus, so many would not even recognize it when it came. I truely believe that many Atheists will “see” the Kingdom of Heaven before many Christians do, and all because of their hearts.
Another favorite passage of mine about Patriarchy is the passage from Paul’s letter to the Ephesians and the sarcastic response to the husbands of that church who were having some sort of problem with wives speaking authoritatively. Paul tells the wives to submit to their husbands and then tells the men to love their wives as Christ loves the church. First, I doubt submitting to that would feel much like submission. Secondly, it is a command that has yet to be fulfilled by anyone and a response that should humble any husband.
