A Few months ago the whole world was shaken by the release of a new Chatbot called Chat GPT by Open AI. Open AI is a well-established company in the AI domain with popular products such as Dall-E, MidJourney, and even GitHub Copilot but never before had the world seen something quite like Chat GPT, and little did we know how much it was going to impact our lives. Artificial Intelligence or AI has been around for a long time. Machines have been able to carry out some tasks on their own when given the appropriate set of instructions but with the advent of Machine Learning, new and more powerful AI technologies have been given birth. The most popular of them is Chat GPT …of course

So what is Chat GPT? (for those living inside a cave on Mars)

Chat GPT is a language model trained on a massive data set, with neural networks that allows it to understand and interpret the Information. Its goal is to provide helpful and informative answers to the best of its ability and in the most human way possible. If you don’t understand what is meant by “trained”, Just imagine trying to learn from an Immensely large library and then using the information you acquired to answer questions, that is exactly what Chat GPT does.

Since its release in Late November, Chat GPT has gained hundreds of millions of users, in fact, it is the fastest app to reach 100 million users. People use it for various purposes ranging from basic searches to writing whole dissertations. Not only can it do all of these things, but it can do it in less than no time and with astonishing accuracy. All of this is interesting, but there is a dark side to all of this and it has been raising a lot of concerns.

Will AI replace Humans?

So this question has been in the heads of many people since the creation of AI, but with the release of Chat GPT, we’ve never been closer to this happening. Just a few months ago the media company BuzzFeed fired 180 people(12% of their workforce) to replace them with an AI solution and this is not an Isolated case. Just take a look at the stats reported by Resume Builder

They are quite scary.

I was talking about how Chat GPT is being used in research, well that’s not the only area it has Impacted ;

-In Health, for example, people have started using Chat GPT to quickly and accurately diagnose diseases based on “symptoms” and “medical history”. It can even come out with treatment plans which can be customized based on the patient’s specific requirements.

-Some News companies like Buzzfeed as we’ve seen earlier have started firing employees to replace them with AI technology. So it’s more likely that in the future, most of your News articles will be written by AI Bots.

But perhaps the 2 sectors where AI has generated the most concerns are Education and Tech

The reason AI technologies like Chat GPT have raised so many concerns in education is that..well … Chat GPT can help with almost all tasks that involve writing. This will greatly decrease face-to-face student-teacher interactions. No more looking for professors around campus to help you with your dissertation, chat GPT’s articles are near perfect. Some students have even started cheating by letting Chat GPT do their assignments for them, and it’s very difficult to be caught because Chat GPT’s answers are very human-like. So we can deduce that AI has started replacing professors.

The same thing is happening in tech, we’ve seen programmers using Chat GPT to write bits of code for them. In addition, it can Identify Syntax as well as Logic errors, yes, logic errors in your code which is just mind-blowing if you think about it because this just shows how “human” Chat GPT is. Chat GPT has the ability to create Small Applications like Basic to-do lists which might not be much for now, but I can’t help but think of what it might be capable of doing 10–20 years down the road.

Chat GPT 4 has been released and the features it came with just show how AI is getting better every day and it will keep getting better up to a point where we might not be able to keep up with it again and that time will mark the end of the world as we know it.

Don’t forget to tell me what you think about all of this in the comments below, and follow me if you liked the content.
