Why I’m Defiant

You may have noticed I have not been writing a lot on HRreMix. The truth is I’ve been a bit bored with blogging lately. Like everyone else I seem to be spending a lot of time on the visual: watching too much “prestige” tv and posting photos on Instagram.

It’s all a pleasant distraction from the utter insanity taking place in our world.

But I’ve always been a fan of the written word and so I keep coming back to this blog and writing. Of course, if I’m going to ever become a better writer I probably need to wean myself off my TV addiction…but that’s another post for another time.

Today, I want to tell you about my new project. Many of you know that in the past I wrote for Performance I Create, a multi-contributor blog with a great team of HR professionals churning out fantastic content ranging from the serious to the helpful to the fun.

Well, PIC is re-born. We’ve been through some fire and brimstone. But like Daenerys, we rose better and badder.

PIC: The Defiant Ones

We’re now PIC: The Defiant Ones. Why? You can only create with total freedom and that’s what we’re up to on our site. We aren’t just an HR site anymore, we’re about much more than that, we’re about giving our writers the freedom to be colorful, bold, brash, politically incorrect, disruptive, combative, honest, and DEFIANT!

In my initial post, I shared some of my thoughts on why I’m defiant:

I’m 30’ish years old and I’ve been disappointed by a lot lately. I’m tired of being disappointed.
I’m disappointed by a system that gave us two dismal choices this past November.
I love my country but I’m disappointed that people voted for and continue to defend our current President.
I’m disappointed that people spend so much of their time online fighting when they could be talking to people instead.
I’m disappointed that people who are different struggle for inclusion and fair pay in our workplaces.
I’m disappointed that so many employers still do not see the value in their people.
And the list could go on.
But I refuse to dwell in that negative bullshit.
I am defiant in the face of all the negativity in our world.

If that didn’t excite you, don’t worry there is much better writing on our blog. A couple of the topics we tackled in the past month: abortion, protests, mindfulness, office politics and saboteurs.

Please take a minute to look around and if you like what you see, please join us. We are dedicated to showcasing different voices from all perspectives. PIC: Freedom To Create
