Say yes and do it! Friday is a feeling.
“There are people who are able to plan their career, their future, but I’ve never had any talent for that. I just do things and hope for the best. Say yes, take a chance, and sometimes it’s terrific and sometimes it’s not.” — Christopher Walken
There’s a lot of ‘just say no’ being peddled about, what if we say yes! Isn’t that the ‘growth mindset’ we all want? There’s reason to say go for the big yes when you can see or even realize all its possibilities, especially in the heat of the moment. Sparks of enthusiasm are insights waiting to be happen. Screw it, just do it. I too have spent too long pondering, wasted time and energy!
Any of the leaps and bounds we make come often from these moments, epiphanies, or just hard-pressed times and deadlines. Like the last five minutes before rushing to a meeting. Or that great cup of great coffee, clarity, excitement. Isn’t decaf, after all, the devil’s blend anyway? Ever see how you get a ‘yes’ in a sales meeting when you roll out the good stuff..? Release the rational mind once in a while… let the dogs off their leashes!
Yes, definitely know thy limits, commit to finishing things first and foremost. Though don’t miss the moments in those rare instances, where the good stuff lies too. You can really go large on those madcap ideas, creaming off the best when you can see the ‘big yes’. Just do it. Don’t let them pass unnoticed, grab them and go for it.
It’s Friday, let the dog of the leash.
