UNI has been impacted by racism, sexism, bullying, and personal suffering, resulting in feelings of isolation throughout campus. These issues have manifested from a lack of leadership and sense of support at UNI. In order to build a stronger campus, we need leaders who understand and act on these concerns; leaders that are capable of bringing students together and making effective change. Together we can improve issues affecting all students: mental health resources, sustainability practices, and student engagement.

“Stronger Together” is more than a slogan; it is a chance to be reality.

As student body president and vice president, Hunter and Avery will:

Mental Health

Mental Health Awareness Event

  • Create an annual campus wide event showcasing current resources available to students
  • Increase active awareness through educational and informative programming
  • Organize a visible campaign to build a supportive campus

UNI ID Emergency Resources

  • Work with DOR to list critical contacts on the back of the UNI ID
  • Provide instant access to emergency contacts: Campus Police, 24/7 Escort, Student Health Clinic, Suicide and Sexual Assault hotlines, and RA on call

Sustainability

RecycleMania Tournament

  • Engage campus in sustainable practices through friendly competition against state, conference, and national schools
  • Collaborate with the Office of Sustainability to implement rules and expectations of the competition
  • Generate awareness and engagement with current sustainable projects on campus

The Bike Share Program

  • Delegate student leadership to NISG Campus Relations Chair
  • Develop an online presence to promote the program, availability, and access to Cedar Valley bike trails
  • Modify bikes to be identifiable across campus

The Northern Iowan

  • Improve access of content with a link in the MyUNI App
  • Review current printing and operational costs for future efficiency with editorial staff

Student Engagement

Student Organizations and NISG

  • Promote events fostering collaboration between organizations
  • Inform new leaders and advisers of NISG funding and resource opportunities

Chief Diversity Officer

  • Establish an active relationship with the CDO focused on student priorities
  • Build working relationships between CME Ambassadors and the Director of Diversity and Student Life
