A peek into the fake news aka alt-fact universe

A Reuters piece titled “Exclusive: Trump campaign had at least 18 undisclosed contacts with Russians — sources” was recently published. To summarize:

Advisers to Trump’s campaign were in contact with Russian officials and others with Kremlin ties during the last 7 months of the campaign.

These previously undisclosed interactions are now being reviewed by FBI and congressional investigators.

Trump White House initially denied any contacts but have since have since confirmed four meetings between Kislyak and Trump advisers during that time.

Six of the previously undisclosed contacts were phone calls between Sergei Kislyak, Russia’s ambassador to the United States, and Trump advisers

The reviewers have seen no evidence of wrongdoing or collusion between the campaign and Russia in the communications reviewed so far.

That last bit is important, because Infowars’ Paul Joseph Watson then packages this as a complete vindication of Trump in this matter. No evidence so far? Ah, the entire thing is nonsense! Now, if it turns out that there was collusion and impeachment ensues, Infowars will have an army of angry followers who are adamant that matter was laid to rest, and that the impeachment proceedings are part of a globalist conspiracy.

To be clear, I have no idea what’s behind the curtains on this scandal and I get the feeling many Democrats/Liberals are pinning their hopes on this, and will be sorely disappointed. In the meantime, I’m enjoying my popcorn.
