The main ‘real world’ rather than ideological problem I have with differing style types is the painful combination of auto-formatters and code diffs (namely GitHub pull-requests).

When someone has an auto-formatter configured completely differently to that of the last committer and now I’m trawling through hundreds and hundreds of basic formatting changes in the diff, trying to find what’s *actually* changed.

This is where I do wish we could agree on that mythical standard - one which focusses on making code reviews enjoyable.
