It has long been know that racism breeds a form of self hatred in the victims. So yes, there were Latinos and African-American males who voted for Trump because they could ignore the blatant racism (seeing it as not applying to themselves) but shared the misogyny, homophobia and xenophobia. Yes, there are Latinos who are anti-immigration and there are African-Americans who are anti-affirmative action. There were also college educate European-American women who voted for Trump. It was these 3 groups along with 3rd party votes in about 4 states, who supported Obama in ’08 and ’12 that shifted the balance to Trump if the election results are to be believed.
