The Supreme Court’s “Citizens United” decision removing McCain-Feingold Bill restrictions on corporations and labor unions to directly spend on political campaigns caused a flood of special interest money to politics. This was a major victory for Wall Street, health insurance companies and other corporate interests. It diminished the influence of Americans who give small donations. Pres. Obama pledged to work with Congress to develop a response. He did not complete his pledge. Removing the Johnson Bill restrictions on Faith based non-profits will help to return balance to political donations as church leaders will again be able to inform their flocks about Washington’s systematic corruptions.
