Is automation bad? No. Is autopilot good? Sure, eventually. Tesla should definitely pursue it aggressively. Testing, however, should be done by professionals, similar to Google’s approach; until they feel comfortable removing the beta label at least.

If the public at large is given a thing, they will use it and abuse it. Someone who may have not driven because they are drunk may now try to rely on autopilot to get them home; causing an accident that otherwise wouldn’t have happened. One that beta software can not yet handle.

The testing needs a more ethical approach, but the goal and technology are good.
