I don’t necessarily agree with the Trump=Hitler shortcut. As in, I think he’s definitely a populist, but he’s not a potential dictator or mass murdering maniac. I wouldn’t vote for him but even agree with some of the ideas behind his movement (political correctness has gone too far, for instance). Having said that, he IS sowing the seeds of a us vs. them movement that could very quickly spiral out of control, and that’s why it needs to be reigned in. Because in that sense it IS very dangerous and your analogy is kind of on point.
