The IN GOOD CO team has been remote since our inception. It hasn’t always been a walk in the park, but it was a conscious choice and we think it’s been amazing for our team.
Now, as we navigate a world where remote work for long stretches might test individuals and teams across the country, we want to share some insights in hopes they are helpful and make working together (while apart) just a little bit easier.
Something about the fact that 2020 is coming — hello decade of let’s-do-this — has made us want to codify some of the things we’ve learned and cultivated since we started about five years ago.
At a recent offsite — in Ojai, the place made for reflection! — we, as a team, workshopped the keys to what kind of teamwork makes the dream work. Since IGC’s inception, we’ve put protecting our culture above everything. …
In celebration of Valentines day, (which we’re fairly sure is the least cool of all national holidays minus the hearts, which we love, OBVIOUSLY) we’re celebrating things we truly love that are making the world a more awesome and amazing place FOR EVERYONE.
We believe that spending time on vacation, participating in your civic duties, having awkward or awesome family-time over the holidays and paid parental leave are AWESOME.
So let’s end the sadness of writing apologetic OOO messages and let’s bring on an era of showing your humanity and celebrating your time with great OOO templates.
Bonus points if they make others smile and want to give you a high five.
When we started IN GOOD CO, we committed to questioning EVERYTHING.
Agencies are notoriously toxic places to work, but we firmly believe that doesn’t have to be the case.
We’ve learned a LOT in the last two years, and in the dozen of collective years we’ve had building thriving agencies. And we want to share the love.
So, if you have a question like ‘How do we make brainstorms inclusive’ or ‘What tips do you have for making salary conversations not suck’ we’d love to hear from you.
We’ll gather everyone’s questions and post answers here and on insta once a month.
Together, we can make agencies better!
Ah, the brainstorm… A cornerstone of idea generation; a boardroom mainstay.
What’s shocking though is how many people are wasting their time in sessions that won’t create truly original ideas. The average brainstorming sesh is often stifling some of the best ideas. It can be detrimental to your workplace’s sense of psychological, and creative safety — which you definitely do not want, believe us.
If we’re really all in the business of building strong, successful, and conscious businesses, it’s time to rethink the brainstorm.
Part 3: How might we…get messy
What fun is it coloring inside the lines? We all know the real magic is in going a little crazy AND having the freedom to do so.
Flexibility is a big part of our evolution and growth. And nothing is worse than a stale environment — yikes. …
These days, everyone wants better “culture.” It’s a buzzword but not for nothin’.
An inspiring work culture not only helps you maintain the best and brightest employees, but contributes to more successful teams and straight-up better quality work.
But listen up, execs: It’s about more than #ThirstyThursday office happy hours and a ping pong table (though we enjoy both). Even a LaCroix-stocked fridge isn’t the ticket to success. Here’s where a truly inspired — and valuable — work culture starts.
Welcome to Part 2 of 3 Steps to An Inspiring Work Culture (For Real). Check out Part 1: Feel Good, Do Good in case you missed it!
Part 2. Aspire to Inspire
Play in one sandbox and you’ll only make the same sand castles…
Did you know that seemingly unrelated knowledge has the power to drive creativity and make the work we do better? This makes sense… after all, the work we do doesn’t exist in a vacuum and great ideas can come anywhere!
Sharing knowledge, broadening our horizons, and learning is a huge part of building teams that are…
