Aesthet Individual Activity 4: Museum Sightseeing

Art is very broad, very general, yet each one of us has a different meaning of art. In my case, art is something that gives us a meaning to our lives. That is why art is there in the first place. The arts depict what its creator is sensing.

Last Sunday, we went to the National Museum to look at some of the artworks displayed there. I admit that I feel like I only wanted to go because I have to, but when I entered the doors of the museum, it changed my mind. I mean, seeing it got my attention.

Here are some of the other artworks I have seen in that museum:

These are truly masterpieces of our ancestors. All what they have seen, felt, and gone through during their time. My most favorite one is The Spolarium by Juan Luna. It made me feel everything our ancestors have gone through like slavery. People in the past have been always engaged in battles for freedom, but the ones who were killed were disrespected even more, and those who survived were either tortured or sold to slavery. You know, sometimes you may find art boring, but it’s everywhere you go. Every part of our lives have art involved in it always. These paintings I’ve seen are worth a lot to us. It means to say that if you have taken any of it, you are already taking away our identity. That’s art for me.
