You identified a cultural problem that “your people” don’t want to address.

Where specifically would you not want to be in the South, because you wouldn’t feel safe? I really must know.

I mean, there are Jews everywhere, even in the deepest recesses, surrounded by fundamentalists, or in the most dangerous of ‘hoods. My close friend Ben is a Jew from Los Angeles, now living in Tennessee. His brother lives in a gay, nudist, hippie commune, surrounded by rural Tennessee — all fundamentalists.

The locals call it “Hippie Holler”, and they live and coexist in peace. They respect each other, even though they don’t see eye to eye on how they live.

What you just wrote really identifies the problem.

We’re not superior. Just different. And we like being different.
