Everyday Leadership

When you think of a leader, who comes to mind: Politicians, spiritual leaders or corporate executives. But I believe most of us at any given time play the role of leader in our everyday life.

You could be a parent, teacher, CEO or even a student taking care of your homework, if you’re making decisions you are a leader. Each choice you make comes with a potential risk and it could impact your life and the lives of people around you.

Every person has the capabilities of a great leader but they just don’t know it. Successful leaders are self-aware, they don’t hesitate to communicate, they are creative, they have sympathy and above all they have a plan to manage any situation they are in.

Here are some of the things successful leaders do on a daily basis:

  • Accept responsibility
  • Take mistakes seriously
  • Listen to everyone’s opinions but make up their own mind
  • When working on something make it better then how they found it
  • Show concern in others joys, sorrows, hopes, hurts, needs and fears
  • Learn from past but keep an eye on the future
  • Expect best from others and themselves
  • Keep a role model but remember oneself
  • Set goals and pursue them
  • Dedicated to work
  • Not always right but right more than wrong
  • Raise morale by tone
  • Always honest and fair
  • Optimistic
  • Motivate people
