Gothic is known to be spooky, dark, cold, and mysterious. Along with that, it is romantic, sensual, and spiritual. The combination of these two seemingly incompatible conceptions got Gothic on the radar of eccentric, weird, and extraordinary people. Gradually, jewelry with dark vibes penetrated into the fashion world and everyone learned how mesmerizing, beautiful, and spellbinding it can be. If you are a fan of jewelry with otherworldly aesthetics, you won’t be able to turn your eyes off these stunning gothic rings.

Dragon Rings

Dragons are one of the most common symbols in the Gothic subculture, which roots go back to bizarre images immortalized in medieval architecture, legends, and art. Indeed, you can see a lot of dragon figures adorning the Gothic cathedrals. In Europe, a dragon, flying serpent, personified the base qualities of a man, namely anger, sinfulness, greed, and destructive inclinations. You can often see images of knights defeating dragons, which symbolize the victory of good over evil. In modern Gothic, the meaning of the dragon as a symbol of human vices is diluted with significance that came from the East. Today, the fire-breathing creature also became a symbol of power, strength, and wisdom. By the way, you can find a great variety of dragon rings here

Rose Rings

Rose is another symbol that the modern reincarnation of Gothic borrowed from its medieval predecessor. Back then, in the Middle Ages, cathedrals and churches bore round stained glass windows called ‘rose windows’. Gothic rose is a symbol of divine beauty. Its petals represent an infinite number of worlds. The disparate elements of the world are gathered together in a rose. Just like the eastern Mandala, it symbolizes the universe. In the modern sense, a rose is a delicate, fragile, and beautiful flower, which, however, can hurt. In this context, we can draw a comparison with love that is beautiful and desirable but can make you suffer.

Skull Rings

Skulls are the personification of otherworldly forces, death, and demonic creatures lurking in the shadows. However, if you think that the skull carries only gruesome meaning then you are deeply mistaken. Even the ancient tribes honored the skull as harbingers of the afterlife, rebirth, or, conversely, immortality. Christianity adopted these ideas and embodied them in the so-called Adam’s head, the skull that lies at the base of the crucifix. Since Gothic symbolism is built based on Catholic signifiers and connotations, skulls have become strongly associated with Gothic.

Ankh Rings

Unlike the above-listed images, Ankh is a symbol of exclusively modern Gothic. First, it was introduced in the iconic vampire movie ‘The Hunger’, in which the characters of David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve wore Ankh pendants. Ankh is an Egyptian hieroglyph that resembles a Latin cross with a circle atop. Its other names are “the key of the Nile”, “the key of life”, “the Egyptian cross”, etc. Ankhs have been placed in the pharaohs’ tombs since the ancient Egyptians believed that they opened the doors to the other world. However, the exact meaning of the symbol is still a mystery. It is considered that an ankh symbolizes eternal life and wisdom.

Precious Stone Gothic Rings

Since the majority of gothic jewelry is made of silver, it became a perfect canvas for electrifying and glittering precious stones. Indeed, the pale metal emphasizes and enhances their natural beauty. There is only one rule for gems and stones in Gothic jewelry — they must be of the cold palette — blue (sapphires), green (emeralds), purple (amethysts), clear (CZ stones or diamonds), black (onyx), etc. The only exception is red rubies or garnets that symbolize droplets of blood. Blood, which denotes both carnal suffering and vampires, is a popular motif in Gothic.
