Loneliness

There are many people who feel lonely. LONELINESS can eat away at us like a disease. God says through the bible that he has provided a helper and comforter for us. We should also try to support and comfort each other and be one who solves the problem of loneliness, not who suffers from it.

Currently 65 million people are living in the UK alone and 37 million are Christians! And 2.42 million of those people are lonely (Approximately).

Loneliness is a big problem facing many people these days. We have become much more self-sufficient and isolated, wrapped up in our own little worlds. However, we all need friends who care for us and can be relied upon in difficult times. Jesus said that even though the Christian church was very small, it would in time grow to become a huge world wide fellowship! Of believers. Part of this Christian community is available where you live. There are people who are waiting to welcome you at your local Christian church. And don’t forget, the best friend you can ever have it Jesus.

Mark 4:30–32 NIV says: “Again he said, “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.”

Jesus used this parable to explain that although Christians had very small beginnings, it would grow into a worldwide community of believers. When you feel alone in yourself or your stand for Christ realise that God is building a worldwide kingdom. He has faithful followers in every part of the world. YOUR FAITH, no matter how small, can join with that of others to accomplish great things.

Loneliness is everywhere-many people cut off and alienated from others. Being in a crowd just makes people more aware of their isolation. We all need friends who will stick close, listen, care, and offer help when it is needed-in good times and bad. It is better to have one such friend than dozens of superficial acquaintances. Instead of wishing you could find true friends, seek to become one. If you look around, you’ll find people who need your friendship. Ask God to reveal them to you, and then take on the challenge of being a true friend.

Proverbs 18:24 says: “One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

As Christians we need to be inviting more people into our lives, this is a much appreciated way to show your love for others, in fact it’s most probably more important today because of our individualistic, self-centred society, many lonely people wonder if anyone cares whether they live or die! As Christians we shouldn’t allow this to happen. Some people are blessed with many friends, others perhaps are experiencing loneliness. That’s why 3 John 1:5 encourages us to look out for people and take care of them even if they are strangers to us.

(3 John 1:5 NIV says: “Dear friend, you are faithful in what you are doing for the brothers and sisters, even though they are strangers to you”.)

We may find this difficult to do, but remember that Jesus said, if we take care of people it’s as though we are doing it for him!

If your reading this and your not yet a believer, this might be your calling to God I’ve been a Christian for 4years now and attend church every Sunday! Going to church and accepting God in my life was one of the best things I’ve done with my life, OK I still have bad times in my life and yes I’ve struggled with loneliness and still do! But I now that with God in my life that the next steps I take in my faith journey are going to be better than what they where yesterday. I no that God is for me so who can be against me! He promises in Jeremiah 29:11 that he has hope and a future for me, it says: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Remember going to church, excepting God is a choice not something that you have to do it’s something you want to do! And I don’t no many Christians that have regretted accepting God in their life!

So what are you waiting for ?
