Strategy games, either board- or video-based, place a high value on the situational awareness and decision-making abilities of the players. While chess is an ancient and well-known strategy game, a new subgenre in the video market is the Real Time Strategy (RTS) game. Immensely popular since their inception, these games are different in that there is not a single correct way to fulfill a mission.

A player must concoct a particular strategy to win. The participants will often attempt to establish control over critical areas of the game and eliminate the opponent’s capabilities. While it is possible to generate additional capabilities, these efforts are limited by the available resources. Among the top 10 new RTS games listed by the website MobiPicker are Total War: Arena and Homeworld: Deserts of Karak.
