I agree, the term LMO is much more appropriate. I also agree everybody should have the right to say no! In France they are largely banned and products containing them have to be clearly labelled that they do. If I remember the figure rightly, 0.95% is the maximum limit.
The question of responsibility appears crucial. At the moment it seems they get bye, by affirming there is no known problem. Thats a cop out. They should guarantee there is no problem and then more adequate and longer term testing would be done. They hide behind the fact that it would be very difficult to prove that their particular modification was responsible, just as they do for things like pesticides!
