You’re quiet right. The fossil fuel exploitation companies are going to extract every last litre they can. They should be given clear deadlines when the sales of energy based on fossil fuel extraction are illegal. What should the deadline be? 2030 seems reasonable to me.
On the other hand pushing for solar is not the good idea it might seem. It only produces energy about half the time and its conversion efficiency is around 33% and the panels require replacing within 30 years and they have to be manufactured, which means digging yet more stuff out of the ground. Better are the various forms of Hydroelectric that produce all the time and everybody is trying to avoid using, even though a good deal of it is proven technology. Its high time we started asking why?
