Welcome to the Age of the Unstoppable Receiver

They don’t work on tackling enough in the secondary. Yards after catch I’d wager are at an all-time high. And it certainly has to do with the offenses being spread out, and lots of #1 WRs getting single coverage in 5 WR sets.

The only way to combat this is to tee off on QBs if teams want to leave scatbacks to chip, and empty their backfields so they can split TEs wide. If enough QBs pay the price then teams will have to re-calibrate their offenses to feature the run more.

The league needs to give the game back to the DBs some. It’s unfair to the CB to penalize so heavily for face-guarding now that the back-shoulder throw has become so unstoppable. And the put it on the one/spot of the foul PI call needs to be extincted. 15 yards on PI will suffice, same as college.

Or just go ahead and do the inevitable and make games hard two hand touch only.
