Oh, and on the gun thing, it’s simple. Senators represent states. Presidents represent nations. The people of Vermont wanted freedom from regulation of handguns, so Bernie did his job as a Senator and voted against them.

Sometimes, what a state wants isn’t what the whole country needs. That’s why, when running for president, Bernie’s seeking a mandate to implement gun control. Vermonters don’t want it, but their wants are outweighed by the needs of the rest of the country.

Smearing Bernie by saying he did his job by representing the people of Vermont who elected him is just ridiculous. That’s what he was supposed to do.

Incidentally, no form of gun control is ever going to work effectively unless you either;

  • get a constitutional amendment specifying that the second amendment doesn’t constitute a blanket freedom to bear any arms you like, and clarifying that bearing arms is only supposed to be for the purpose of maintaining a well-regulated militia, or;
  • you appoint enough Supreme Court justices to the bench who interpret the second amendment correctly.

The Brady Bill was merely fiddling while Rome burned. Totally worthless in the grand scheme of things.
