That’s why incentivising teachers is the wrong end of the stick. You incentivise the pupils. Then instead of the teachers having to beg, bully and manipulate their pupils into learning, you’ll have the pupils keeping their teachers’ noses to the grindstone in the hope of attaining that juicy carrot.
There’s published scholarly research into this. Small monetary incentives for pupils is far more cost-effective and effective overall at increasing attainment levels.
