Whichever candidate reaches a figure of 2026 pledged delegates will receive the nomination. Superdelegates will confirm the majority by voting in favour of whichever candidate gets the majority of pledged delegates. The vast majority have endorsed Clinton, but that was the case in ’08. When it became clear that she couldn’t get a majority of pledged delegates, they jumped ship to Obama because to do otherwise would have been rightly seen as incredibly undemocratic. That’s why Bill Clinton’s on record saying he’ll do just that in the event Sanders wins the majority of pledged delegates. The party’s name has to mean something. Even the Clintons know that!
