We are thrilled to announce that Preeti Rathi and Kellan Carter have been made Partners at Ignition. Preeti and Kellan have been instrumental in leading several of our latest investments and have consistently demonstrated a great eye for next generation startups — having shown time and again their dedication and commitment to helping our entrepreneurs succeed in a tough competitive environment.

As my partner John Connors aptly remarked, “Success in venture capital is catching platform shifts before they happen. Often, new platforms emerge because they are generationally driven and require insights that can seem unbelievable when justifying past ways of doing things. Preeti and Kellan have been incredibly astute at seeing emerging platforms and getting us into game changer deals.”

Preeti joined us in 2016 as a principal with a sector focus on ML/AI enabled applications for industries undergoing digital transformation. Her current investments at Ignition include Tractable, CrowdAI, and a startup in stealth mode. Preeti also serves as an observer on Aviatrix.

Prior to Ignition, Preeti was a principal at Opus Capital, where she invested in Big Data and Machine Learning startups such as Turi (acquired by Apple) and Edunav. Preeti has also worked on the venture and strategic investments team at Juniper Networks where she invested in Wickr and Vectra Networks, among others. Preeti’s product experience comes with numerous managerial roles in enterprise networking and mobility at Cisco. She holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University and an MBA from The Wharton School of Business.

Kellan joined us in 2013 as an associate, working on business development, staffing and strategy with more than 10 of our portfolio companies. Kellan is focused on investments in intelligent horizontal and vertical application software. Kellan has been instrumental in identifying key investment opportunities, notably sourcing our investments in KenSci, Icertis, and botkeeper. Kellan currently serves on the board of botkeeper and as an observer on KenSci, Azuqua, Chef and Icertis.

Kellan also draws from his background in technology investment banking. Prior to Ignition, Kellan spent two years in investment banking at Mooreland Partners in San Francisco. There, he helped execute M&A transactions for technology companies in a variety of sectors, including cloud, enterprise software, systems, and infrastructure. Prior to Mooreland Partners, Kellan was an associate in KPMG’s advisory practice in Orange County, CA, where he helped structure asset-backed securities collateralized by student loans, auto loans, and residential and commercial mortgages. Kellan also previously founded a non-profit platform to enable University of Montana students to discover and network with alumni.

Please join us in congratulating Preeti and Kellan on their new roles. You can reach them through email, on LinkedIn, or follow them on Twitter.
