Manager’s need to understand that it goes beyond just “letting the inmates run the asylum”. As important as it is to give your designers, your engineers, and the rest of the rank-and-file reign this has to be controlled to make sure that people are spending the right amount of time on the things that are going to provide the greatest benefit. You know you are failing as a manager when you are just putting all the responsibility to your staff and regurgitating what they tell you back to your stakeholders.
