Synopsis:
The film tells about Hugo, an orphan boy, lives in the great clock wall in a station in Paris in the 1930s. He must maintain the clock to keep working. But, for him, fix a robot, which is found by his late father, is more important than everything because there is a mystery about the robots.

In 2012, Hugo won five Academy Awards: cinematography, sound mixing, sound editing, visual effects and art directors. Scorsese, which is the director, feels proud about it.

“I am deeply honored to have been nominated by the Academy for my work on Hugo. Every picture is a challenge, and this one — where I was working with 3D, HD and Sacha Baron Cohen for the first time — was no exception.” — Martin Scorsese, stated in Failes (2012).

The visual appearance in Hugo merges live-action and 3D animation. Even though they use visual effect, the viewer still can hear the ‘natural’ sound by the use of the artificial sound effect. This essay will explain more about the use of the visual and sound effect
