BoneBuddy NFTs: Let’s Bone!

For all the NFT skeleton fans out there, there’s a new, under-the-radar project worth checking out: The BoneBuddy collection on OpenSea. It launched on July 9, 2021 with a clean and simple genesis piece:

OpenSea description: “BoneBuddy #1 is a Skeleton that is 425 Years old. It enjoys, Coffee, Art, and Dogs. It dislikes, Heights, Spiders.” These descriptions are actually one of my favorite quirky details about this project!

Since then, the collection has blossomed into 122 items with 20 unique owners. The collection has only transacted 0.08 ETH in total as of today, but that’s because the artist has opted for low, accessible pricing to build grassroots interest in the project. New pieces list anywhere between 0.001 and 0.009 ETH, so phenomenal value for such whimsical, distinctive pieces.

The Wicked Craniums may be the first mover and frontrunner on skeletal PFP (profile pic) NFTs, and Ghxsts may be the first mover and frontrunner on vibrantly colored 1/1 NFT macabre. But I don’t think BoneBuddy’s are — or are intended to be — “competitors” to these collections. Rather, BoneBuddy’s build out the ecosystem for this artistic niche within NFTs (crypto degens do love ’em some skeletons, zombies, ghosts, etc.!), and do so with a quirky panache in my opinion. Plus, if NFTs get as hugely popular as some predict, there will be plenty of space for any and all projects to thrive if they strive to do so with integrity and sincerity.

OpenSea description: “BoneBuddy #12 is a Skeleton that is 777 Years old. It enjoys, Peace, Clouds, and Harps. It dislikes, Evil, Falling.”

On this front, BoneBuddy NFTs also excel! The artist is very personable and hands-on, as evidenced by how he runs the BoneBuddy NFT Twitter account. The pseudonymous “BoneDaddyNFT.eth” (unless that’s his Christian name, in which case he gets an upgrade from badass to TOTAL BADASS in my book) is quite simply a gem of a human being: friendly, engaging, and open.

He does a great thing anytime somebody purchases a BoneBuddy from OpenSea, in fact, where he marks up the artwork (“Adopted,” awwww haha) and @’s the purchaser on Twitter with a quirky message and a sincere thanks. For example:

So all in all, I’m a fan of the artwork, a fan of the project, and a fan of the creator. It’s definitely something work checking out! Here are a couple more BoneBuddy pieces from my personal collection (check out the full collection on OpenSea):

OpenSea description: “BoneBuddy #59 is a Skeleton that is 965 Years old. It enjoys hiking, coffee mugs, road trips. It dislikes routines, unexpected guests.”
OpenSea description: “BoneBuddy #7 is a Skeleton that is 122 Years old. It enjoys, Bitcoin, Swimming, and Muffins. It dislikes, Meat, Fiat.”
