I think anyone who has given a dog to a rescue can empathize. While I didn’t exactly rescue Jake, we got him from a home where they could no longer keep him. He was too much for our household, and although I loved him dearly, he didn’t connect with me very well. Like you, my husband took him to the rescue centre, and I stayed at home with the children. I sent a tear-stained letter with him explaining how good he was with children, with birds, and other animals. Sometimes the best we can do for a dog is find them a more suitable home than we have. It’s putting the dogs needs first, isn’t it?
