First day of learning how to code be like: “ I am so excited to code, green numbers, dark screen. I am gonna have a cool job, oh YES!

Second day of learning how to code be like: “ Time to start building things! It’s not exactly what I initially thought, but it’s still pretty awesome.

Third day of learning how to code be like: I’m done with this! So much info, this coding thing isn’t for me.

So, after going through this typical scenario that happens to every developer when they first start out, let’s begin by figuring out the difference between motivation and excitement.

A lot of us actually mix up motivation and excitement. While the truth is they are totally different.

Motivation is doing something you’re not excited about, but you keep doing it because it is going to achieve your goal.

On the other hand, Excitement is the feeling of an automatic inner passion and love to do something.

So, when you’re excited about coding, things seem easy and fun to you. But then, the next day, when your excitement fades, things can start feeling tougher. The challenge is to keep going when things start to look harder. So, you need to be motivated and think about your goal that keeps pushing you in this journey. (And trust me, it has to be a strong and compelling reason to keep up with coding stuff.)

Let’s get to the point! And find tips to stay motivated!

Tip 1: Always remember that coding is not an easy subject to learn. So that when you find something you can’t understand, it doesn’t mean you’re stupid. It just means that you have to be more patient.

Tip 2: Every time you reach the point where you can’t proceed anymore, remember your main goal. It’s better to have more than one goal so that when one starts looking far from you, move to the other one. For me, I set more than one goal.

My first one is that I am fond of coding, I don’t want to give up my hobby.

My second one is that I want to have a side hustle alongside my current job.

My third one is to travel around the world. But I can’t achieve that with my on-site work. So maybe my freelancing programming job can do that for me.

My fourth one is that I want to help the people that are in real need. The people that their normal rights have been taken from them, and they can’t get it back. I wanna help them by any means. (But I am sure my normal job can’t fulfill this dream). The example of people I am talking about is the people of Palestine. Their land, houses, rights, and souls are being taken from them by the Israeli occupier. The worst thing is that the world is blind when the matter is about Palestinians' rights. Palestinian civilians, children, women, and innocent men are being killed in several inhuman ways every single day. And no one cares. So, I want to care! I want to help them with my coding hobby revenue.

One Example of Inhumanity

When I see such things I really keep going in my coding journey. Because coding can’t be harder than the life these people are forced to live.
