HOW TO CONVINCE YOURSELF TO BE A MORNING PERSON?
“Early, she was free. Early, she was confident and clearheaded and full of energy. Early, the obligations of life existed only in theory and not in fact. All that mattered, all that was there, was the story, the inspiration and the art”
Many of us grow up hearing about the advantages of waking up early from our parents, schools, books, social media, influencers, and more. All those Jaldi Utha Kar Sab Theek Ho Jayega (wake up early, everything will be alright) rants. You might be tired of hearing it and feel that it’s overrated, believing that things could be done just the same at any time of the day, not necessarily in the morning. Well, this article aims to convince you, or at least make you acknowledge, that being a morning person is exactly what you need to achieve greatness.
Have you ever woken up early and felt this calm soothingness inside you? Your heart beats at a normal pace, the clean air, the calming voice of birds, the belief that you could do anything or accomplish so much more at this time? Yes? That’s exactly what your mind and soul need, and it will take you to the path of greatness.
Here’s a small true story to help you believe and make it more understandable:
“Toni Morrison was a Black woman in the 1970s. She used to wake up in the dark and make that first cup of coffee. Sitting at her desk, as her mind cleared and the sun rose, filling the room with light, she would write. Morrison said, “Light is the signal in the transition of your early calm and your distressed and messed latter. It’s not being in the light; it’s being there before it arrives.”
As a single mother with a demanding job as an editor, her days were occupied, and her children claimed every other left minute. By late evening, she was burned out, too tired to think. It was in the precious early morning hours between the parting dark and the rising dawn — before her children’s needs, before the pile of work waiting for her attention, before the arguments with the boss, before the phone calls, before the bills reminders, before the dishes that needed to be done — it was then she could be a writer.
After the publication of her first novel, ‘The Bluest Eye’, she went on to write ten more novels. And she earned herself a National Book Award, a Nobel Prize, and a Presidential Medal.”
Here’s the absolute MANTRA for anything you want to achieve:
WAKE UP.
SHOW UP.
BE PRESENT.
GIVE IT EVERYTHING YOU’VE GOT.
Of course, it’s not exactly fun to wake up early. Even people who have reaped a lifetime of benefits from it still struggle with it. Think you aren’t a morning person? Well, nobody is.
I feel that there is so much to be harvested by being early compared to others, the adrenaline boost knowing you’re ahead and working before anyone else. There should be a stop to endless scrolling and the misery of nights, and that stop could be initiated only by you. How would you feel going through all these years without making use of the endless opportunities and awakening thoughts that dawn brings?
Once you are disciplined enough to get your mornings on track, the train, i.e., your life, will run smoothly. The driver, i.e., you, will have more control over your life, and the passengers, i.e., your other goals, will be safe and achievable.
So, are you setting an alarm for 5 am tomorrow???
