Cheap Date

I like my toes best
When covered in coastline sand
Leg hairs slicked smooth by salted water
And fingers folded into a shriek of an embrace
Dusk dancing across cheekbones
Round the arc of your upper lip
Day’s end testifying to God’s craftsmanship
Satisfaction alongside low tide
The subtle aftertaste of half-decent drinks
And an early moon
Rust-orange tones and burnt sienna hues
Accompanied by a conversation
That neither of us
Seem to want to end
