Hiroes joined us on our fourth programme run in Q4 2015. We catch up with the founders, Salomé Houta and Raphaël Scemama, as they launch their £150k equity crowdfunding campaign.
Can you give me some background to yourselves?
Salomé has a communication and marketing background and is soon to start an Entrepreneurship master at Imperial College London. Prior to Hiroes, Salomé worked for in an international fashion brand as a Marketing Assistant as well as in a marketing agency as an event organiser in San Diego, USA.
Raphaël has a finance and strategy background. He holds an Msc in Corporate Finance from EDHEC Business School. Prior to Hiroes, Raphaël worked in mergers & acquisitions at SocGen in Paris and in a tech-focused investment bank in London.
What is Hiroes?
Organising an event is stressful and time consuming. Hiroes is a marketplace that connects event organisers with a curated directory of talented independents (Djs, musicians, photographers, cooks, …) and unusual venues (rooftops, art studios, …) in order to make your event a success. Hiroes allows you to organise creative events, at a very affordable price, in an easy way.
Why did you start Hiroes?
We started this business because we really felt something was missing in the space. Salomé organises a lot of events and she felt like the organisation side could be much more simplified through a user friendly interface. Raphaël was regularly performing as an independent DJ and a photographer to make extra money. He felt like a platform could help him a lot in finding new clients and on the organisation side as well. And here we are!
What did you get from the IncuBus programme?
We started the IncuBus programme very early and we had the opportunity to meet great mentors. The programme helped us refine our idea and get on the right track. It was like a springboard to us so we saved lot of time.
Why did you choose to crowdfund?
We are fundraising on crowd equity platform Crowdcube. This means our supporters also become shareholders. We are using this method because we think that our idea could appeal to many different kind of people and also to get visibility.
What will the money be used for?
We really want to make this a reality and we have been working hard for it, but now we need your help. We have set a target of raising £150,000. which will allow us to launch our project, settle in London, pay our developers and start our marketing campaign.
