The word aesthetic can be used as both a noun and an adjective. But they both have the same underlying meaning. It is a philosophy dealing with the notions of beautiful. However in the Social Media world, the word ‘aesthetic’ is often used interchangeably with ‘personal style’, ‘visual style’, ‘theme’, ‘cohesive feel’ etc.
It’s one of the favourite words used by millennials and Gen Zers in recent years and you’ve probably used it yourself, describing something as „so aesthetic“.
- Define yourself
First discover or re-discover who YOU are. Finding an aesthetic is so much more than gathering a bunch of pictures and calling it a day. A personal aesthetic is a visual representation of you so ask yourself what it is you want to show to the rest of the world.
Here’s some questions for thought:

- What do you like?
- What do you love about yourself?
- How do you want people to feel around you?
- What does your ideal day look like?
