So this magazine page really caught my attention as it was so unique and used a grid in a unusual manner. The image has been used almost as a background to this page but is still the centre piece. This is what the designer wants the reader to look at instantly as it is a very pretty women wearing a fashionable outfit.

The whole page does not fit the ‘norm’ of a inside magazine page. The title has been put on the side of the page rather than the top but it is still effective because of the way it has been written out. The font also has a very ‘sharp’ look to it which makes the reader look at it. It also looks even brighter as its on a black/grey background. The paragraph of writing has then been put in the bottom quarter of the page in line with the end of the title which shows the designer has used a grid but has changed and experimented with it.

A white line has actually been clearly shown to split the title and the paragraph on the page. So the designer has chosen to show a gird marking that he has worked by. This is uncommon in magazine layout but for this particular page it creates a distinct look which adds a lot of design value to it overall.

The company that is being advertised on the page ‘Chanel’ is in the bottom right hand corner which is usually put at the top which is where the human eye looks. Although the layout is very unique the lettering, images and colours have been used to create a dramatic page which really does make the reader look twice.
