Ever since the Kashmir files have hit the silver screens, the whole of India has been left stunned and speechless.
The accurate picturisation of the brutal torture and killings that led to the mass exodus of the Kashmiri pundits from their soils, the Kashmir files have managed to tell the world, the plight of Kashmiri Pandits and how the left has brainwashed Indians into believing their version If the Kashmir problem.
However, this truth has not settled well with the left-liberal lobby. Even before the release of the film, they had tried every way possible to stop the release of the Kashmir files for some ludicrous reason but the High Court rejected their plea and gave a green signal for the nationwide release of this film.
The same lobby of secularists, afraid of losing their syndicate on narratives that they have fed to the Indians for these many years. The left is even more scared of the fact that the Hindus are waking up and speaking up against the brutal atrocities they have faced to this date.
They are coming up with their counter-narratives against the Kashmir Files with their rhetoric of how certain filmmakers should work to show the truth of the Gujarat Riots that place in the year 2002. Ironically, when the left talks about truth, they refer to THEIR version of the truth. Their interpretation is filled with lies and fallacies that they create in their minds. As a fallout, when these people talk about the “Truth of Gujarat Riots” they talk about what they like to be told to the realm which mainly includes the riots that left around 1169 people dead (including those killed in police firing). Not to refute what occurred during that period, but, unfortunately, the left has continued to ignore or, better , denied what led to the Gujarat riots. The Burning of the Ahmedabad-Sabarmati expresses burnt 59 people, including 25 women and 15 children, and injuries to around 40 people alive mercilessly by Islamists from the city of Godhra Independent India saw many horrors. This was one of the worst of them.
Yet, this was not the first time Godhra saw such brutal mass killings. The Godhra town had a long history of bloody communalism. Since the beginning of the twentieth century and even before that, this region of Gujarat’s panch-mahal district has been witnessing an anti Hindu carnage that has even led to the exodus of many Hindu families
Some riots/atrocities, as reported, are appended below:
- 1927- Murder of PM Shah, leading local representatives of Hindus.
- 1946: Mr Sadua Hazi and Mr Chudighar, Pro-Pakistani Muslim leaders were responsible for the attack on a Parsi Solapuri Fozdar during communal riots. After Partition, Mr Chudighar left for Pakistan.
- 1948: Mr Sadua hazi conspired an attack on the district collector, Mr Pimputkar in 1948 but his Bodyguard saved him at the cost of his own life. After that, Mr Sadua Hazi also left for Pakistan in 1948.
On 24th March 1948, One Hindu was stabbed to death near a mosque in the Jahurpur area. Around 2000 houses of Hindus were burnt besides Hindu temples. District Collector Pimputkar could save the remaining areas belonging to Hindus by imposing curfew, which lasted for six months.
- 1980: A similar attack was made on the Hindus on 29th October 1980 which started from the Bus station of Godhra. This Attack was planned by the Islamist miscreants who were involved in anti-social activities near the station road region. Five Hindus including two children of five and seven years of age were burnt alive.
- A Gurudwara was also set on fire in the shikari chal of this area. Forty shops belonging to the Hindus were also set on fire in the station area. Due to these communal riots, Godhra was put under curfew for a year, which severely affected the business and industries.
- 1990: Four Hindu teachers including two women teachers were murdered (cut into pieces) by miscreants in Saifa Madarsa in Varvada area of Godhra on 20th November 1990 in front of children.
- 1992: More than 100 houses belonging to the Hindus were set on fire near the Railway station in the year 1992bto snatch away this area from Hindus. This area in 2002 was lying vacant as most of the Hindu Families had shifted elsewhere.
All the above details of Godhra are also mentioned in an article titled “Godhra in ferment even before Independence” in The Milli Gazette, one of the Magazines which works as a voice for Muslims in India.
These Incidences and the Burning of the Sabarmati express train in 2002 will never find a spot in their so-called truth about Gujarat riots for all the obvious reasons. Godhra was by no means a sudden act of violence. It was pre-planned. It was done with the only aim of creating a sense of terror and fear among the Hindus waking up to claim their religious and cultural heritage. This is why they made the innocent Karsevaks their target. It is evident from this why the left always ignored this mass murder of Hindus in Gujarat, calling it an accident and even worse, an inside job by the RSS- VHP-BJP trio.
Nonetheless, What baffles me the most is how the left continues to deny the Godhra incident while only focusing on the Gujarat violence and also using it to create a narrative against the Kashmir files, a movie based on the plight of Kashmiri Pandits. They continue to play with the sentiments of both the Kashmiri Pandits and the Karsevaks who died a brutal death, all because of their faith.
A dialogue from Radhika Menon (played by Pallavi Joshi) in Kashmir files which goes like
“Sarkaar unki hain but System humara hain”
The Government might be there’s but the System belongs to us.
This particular statement rightly speaks about how the left controls the narrative and the whole system which gives them the privilege to twist the issues at their convenience.
It is now up to Hindus to come out of their shell of pseudo-secularism and speak out against the biased narrative used by the left to shun their Civilisational heritage. Hindus must work on breaking this monopoly of the left on narratives and “The Kashmir files” is the right beginning for it.
