What Your Coaching Business Can Learn From Google
Have you ever wondered how global tech giants like Google harness the potential of social media? And what you can implement that knowledge into your coaching business?
Up until 2022, I had the privilege of being the country lead of Women Will Sri Lanka and the co-manager of Google Business Group Colombo, both of which are integral parts of Google’s global communities.
As part of these communities, we were fortunate to receive invitations to attend global community conferences held at various locations around the world.
Google Singapore
One such memorable location was Google Singapore (when the above pic was taken, with my good friend Soma, from Thailand), where I had the opportunity to network and collaborate with fellow Google community leaders from around the world.
During these conferences, not only did we get a glimpse of the latest Google projects and innovations, but we were also exposed to insider information on how Google practices personal branding and networking — two aspects that are paramount for the success of any coach.
Personal branding is the cornerstone of building a strong online presence as a coach. Just as Google has crafted a unique brand identity that reflects its values and mission, coaches can harness the power of personal branding to distinguish themselves in a competitive market. Your personal brand sets the tone for how potential clients perceive you, and it’s vital to make a memorable impression from the start.
Persoanl Branding
So, what can your coaching business learn from Google’s approach to personal branding?
1. Authenticity Matters:
Google’s brand is known for its authenticity, and the same principle applies to coaches. Be genuine and transparent in your online presence. Share your journey, your values, and your expertise authentically.
2. Consistency is Key:
Google’s logo and brand elements remain consistent across all platforms. Whether it’s Google Search, Gmail or Google Drive, these brand elements are noticeable and are consistent. As a coach, you should maintain a uniform brand image across social media, ensuring that your audience recognizes you instantly, no matter where they encounter your content.
3. Value-Driven Content:
Google provides value to users with its products and content. Similarly, you must focus on delivering valuable content that addresses your audience’s pain points and needs. This builds trust and authority in your niche.
Networking
Networking is another area where Google excels, and coaches can benefit immensely from adopting similar strategies.
1. Connect with Purpose:
Google’s conferences emphasized the importance of connecting with a purpose. Don’t just amass your followers; engage with them meaningfully. Build relationships with potential clients and peers in your industry.
2. Be a Valuable Resource:
Google serves as a valuable resource for users. As a coach, aim to be a resource for your audience by sharing valuable insights, tips, and resources that help them in their personal and professional growth.
3. Attend and Host Events:
Google actively participates in and hosts events. Similarly, you can benefit from attending industry-related events, webinars, and workshops to expand their knowledge and network. Hosting your own events can also establish you as an authority in your field.
Your Turn…
Now that you’ve learned what your coaching business can glean from Google’s playbook, it’s time to take action.
Start by implementing these valuable insights into your social media strategy and personal branding efforts. Remember that building your personal brand and networking are ongoing processes, and consistency is key.
