In March 2017, the name of YOYOW (You Own Your Own Words) was first introduced to the blockchain industry and the history of YOYOW started from here. After releasing the Demo website and operating the DEV network, YOYOW officially released its mainnet in September 2017.

In September 2017, YOYOW team released YOYOW mainnet v1.0 and genesis block, Web wallet beta version and gateway of ETH & Bitshares network. In October 2017, YOYOW released desktop wallet and was listed on Hitbtc. In November and December 2017, YOYOW was listed on the top-notch bitcoin trading platforms including Binance, Bitfinex and OKEX.

In February 2018, YOYOW released the middleware and platform plugins. In March 2018, Bitask was implemented into the YOYOW network officially as the first application on YOYOW. In April, YOYOW was listed on the famous trading platform AEX. In May, YOYOW held a product launch for YOYOW v1.0 and announced YOYOW’s ecological partners. In June, YOYOW was selected as one of the top 20 global blockchain innovations in 2018 and achieved strategic cooperation with SlowMist. In July, the token releasing feature of “Fan Xing” version was released. In August, Binance supported the YOYOW mainnet swap and the YOYOW-WeCenter Special Edition was released.

Until now, it has been one year since YOYOW mainnet was released. YOYOW mainnet wallet has over 40,000 registered users and currently maintains a high growth rate of 200 new registered users per day. As the first anniversary of YOYOW mainnet release approaches, YOYOW has invited Mr. Gu, the team leader of Simpo which is one of YOYOW’s partners to review YOYOW’s development together in an interview.

The interview records are as follows:

Interviewer: Hello, Mr Gu. Thank you for taking time from your busy schedule for our interview. Although YOYOW-WeCenter Special Edition has not been released until August 2018, the WeCenter project team has already been cooperating with the YOYOW team for a long time and they are old friends. As the first anniversary of YOYOW mainnet release approaches, we hope to talk with you about the cooperation between Simpo and YOYOW.

Mr. Gu: You’re welcome. WeCenter is one of our company Simpo’s product and it is complementary to the YOYOW mainnet. We have been cooperating with each other for a period of time and have released YOYOW-WeCenter Special Edition successfully. We are very satisfied with the cooperation between the two teams.

Interviewer: Mr Gu, would you please briefly introduce the existing main products of WeCenter, for example, the features, target clients, business pattern and vision of the main products of WeCenter?

Mr. Gu: Sure. WeCenter is a knowledge and question system of Simpo and it is based on Q&A communities. WeCenter can create knowledge management for enterprises and build knowledge communities of different industries. Knowledge-based payment, content incentive features, intelligent customer service and incentive system can be realized through Q&A, columns, activities, ticket system and bonus points. SMEs can use WeCenter to build a “product + community” model and form a closed loop of demand, product, marketing and after-sales services. Enterprises above designated size can create a “knowledge + community + bonus points” model based on WeCenter to enhance employee satisfaction, promote corporate culture, and precipitate expertise. Simply put, the WeCenter system is designed to help you build your own Zhihu community.

Interviewer: YOYOW is designed to build a fairer and more rational content-oriented value distribution mechanism so that content producers and platform developers can be provided with reasonable rewards. From the features that you have mentioned above, the main features of the WeCenter system and the YOYOW mainnet can work in tandem with each other. So, could you briefly introduce the progress and achievement of the cooperation between WeCenter and YOYOW?

Mr. Gu: WeCenter is a Q&A system which is simple in style and can be customized flexibly. After cooperating with YOYOW, the desktop UI of WeCenter has been adjusted accordingly. The reward points mechanism has been enhanced and the WeCenter system has been directly connected with the YOYOW account system so that the users can be rewarded with YOYO tokens. The development of the mobile application is still being improved and it is expected to be released in October.

The output of our direct cooperation is Bitask which has already been released and operated independently. On this basis, a free WeCenter blockchain version has also been released, which is available for download on Github. The meaning of this is twofold: firstly, it is the first DAPP case in the knowledge community; secondly, it lets more people directly know about blockchain and digital assets through content creation and dissemination.

Interviewer: What are the details that impressed you during the cooperation with the YOYOW team?

Mr. Gu: Above all, the people are very impressive especially the leader of the business. On December 24th, 2017, I added Baicai (founder of YOYOW) on WeChat. One week later, he led the team to Simpo to discuss the development needs. Baicai does not talk much but he acts as what he says and does things fast. The team is also efficient and full of vigor.

Interviewer: Regarding your observations of the YOYOW project during the cooperation process, what is the overall advantage of the YOYOW project and the team?

Mr. Gu: From a technical point of view, the advantages of YOYOW are specifically as follows:

1. The technical team is at the leading level in the same industry which can be proved by the fact that Binance, the world’s leading blockchain assets trading platform, supports YOYOW mainnet swap;

2. It is convenient to issue tokens in YOYOW, which facilitates more system access;

3. YOYOW’s underlying technology has advantages over ETH and it is easier to interface with knowledge communities such as WeCenter;

4. YOYOW is a blockchain platform that focuses on content and plays a leading role for knowledge community products including WeCenter.

Interviewer: How do you view the blockchain industry?

Mr. Gu: The blockchain technology has broad prospects and is bound to change the Internet behaviors and habits of humans in the future. However, there is a mixture of good and bad projects currently and there are even a large number of fraudulent projects, which are in urgent need of industry self-discipline and the regulation and supervision from the government.

The public blockchain industry is still in the early stage of its development and the construction of related infrastructure (basic public blockchain) has not been completed. The relevant technical talents are relatively scarce and the general public is biased against the blockchain technology. However, with the continuous improvement of related industries and the popularization of users, there will inevitably be explosive development in the next three to five years.

The development of the enterprise-oriented league chain is currently mature and it has been gradually applied to related industries such as finance and taxation and will be further developed in the future, which will greatly improve the efficiency of related industries.

Interviewer: From your point of view, what are the advantages and characteristics of a good blockchain project?

Mr. Gu: First of all, the core competitiveness of blockchain technology is mainly reflected in trustlessness, decentralization and immutability. Good projects must be the products that can address the industry cruxes like mutability, centralization and crisis of confidence. Excellent products have to address these cruxes and avoid artificial demand.

Secondly, since the development of blockchain technology is still in its early stage and it is advancing rapidly, its open source characteristics require the project team to have strong development capabilities to rapidly promote product development and avoid the lack of confidence from the community in the project. The team must have excellent development capabilities.

Thirdly, blockchain projects often rely on the circulation and consensus of tokens. Only a strong community consensus based on community operational capabilities can form a virtuous circle with the products. Strong community operational capability is indispensable.

Interviewer: What role did Simpo play in the cooperation with YOYOW? What has Simpo gained from it?

Mr. Gu: YOYOW has already taken the preemptive opportunities in the wave of blockchain which will greatly affect the society and has built a strong technical team and operation team. Simpo is having an in-depth cooperation with YOYOW through the product WeCenter and will launch the knowledge communities of Korean and English versions, by which Simpo has also stepped into the blockchain area. Simpo has rich experience in the implementation of medium and large-scale software projects and can make more breakthroughs at the industry application level with the support of YOYOW.

Interviewer: As the first anniversary of YOYOW mainnet release approaches, what do you and the Simpo team want to say to Baicai and the YOYOW team?

Mr. Gu: First of all, I would like to thank Baicai and other staff of YOYOW for their trust in Simpo and for their great help and support to the WeCenter project. On behalf of all my colleagues in Simpo, I wish that the value of YOYO tokens will rise by leaps and bounds! I also wish that YOYOW can blaze its way forward through all difficulties and advance courageously in the wave of blockchain.
