Back in the mid 1980s when I was reffing the Metropolitan League I went to a game in the middle of the Bronx near Arthur Ave. I was concerned about my safety. Much to my surprise the Italian area was clean and safe. In the middle of it all was their temple to soccer. As I was leaving the field after the match I saw an old man pulling out money and paying the players as they left through the players/officials gate. There wasn’t just passion for the game as an incentive, there was clearly money. I wonder how you can expect to build a quality club without paying players and getting some better talent? This might be worth a separate article or chapter as you write your book. Bravo and kudos on your newest startup, btw. Great stuff to follow.
