Hull’s Finest Come to Sheffield

Left to Right: Austin Stansfield, Lewis Ebbs, Josh Dunne and Ben Dale

Last night Sheffield received their first taste of West Hull’s very own Knocking Shop, and much like their namesake, they left the audience satisfied and hungry for more.

Kicking off a night of music at West Street Live, it was obvious to all in attendance that the 8 o’clock slot did not do justice to the band which has been described by many as a combination of Metallica and Jesus.

The opening set was electrifying. Performing new tracks “The Runaround” and “Red Lipstick" alongside firm fan-favourites such as “What She Said” and “Liar Liar,” it’s hard to believe that this was only their first gig outside of their hometown.

Sheffield’s first taste of Knocking Shop

“I know you said they were good, but I wasn’t expecting that!”

Now, I know people are always going to big-up their friends, especially when they need an audience for a gig, but with Knocking Shop it really feels like they live up to the hype.

Their fresh, catchy lyrics combined with frankly world class instrumentals, delivers a polished and charming end product, that could reduce even your catholic grandmother to head banging.

On top of that, the band’s overall likability is increased massively by their chemistry, which was clear to see for everybody there. The way that Austin and Ben would swap guitars between songs, the whole band’s effortless synchronisation; both hallmarks of a group who really know what they’re doing.

Shortly before winning Hull’s ‘Battle of the Bands’

Knocking Shop broke onto the scene last year after winning the Hull Daily Mail’s ‘Battle of the Bands.’

This rise to the limelight came almost instantaneously, with the band’s opening of Humber Street Sesh being only their third live performance.

So, what next?

With upcoming gigs in both Scarborough and at Fruit back home in Hull, it seems that Knocking Shop are going from strength to strength. If you haven’t been to see them yet, you’re missing out. If you have been to see them before, obviously go and see them again!

Knocking Shop are available for bookings throughout 2017.
