A letter to my daughter.
These are words that come from my heart. I will never forget the day I found out about you I swore that I would live, love and learn for you. You are my hero and my first and only true love. I will always be grateful to you for teaching me every day. When I was dying you taught me how to live. When I felt like I didn’t deserve to be loved you showed be how to accept and give love. When I felt stupid you taught me how to learn and ask for help.
When I look at you I wonder how you learned to become a woman of integrity and respect. The confidence you carry is completely inspiring to me. You are intelligent and eager to learn. You amaze me with the insight you have at such a young age. Your true beliefs are of the most importance to you and kept close to your heart. You are completely fearless when defending those beliefs with no shame or remorse. I am amazed that you have learned to be so strong.
You have an underlying gentleness that makes people stop in their tracks and notice you. When you speak everyone around wants to hear what you have to say and in turn you have a willingness to listen to anyone around you. People of all ages are so utterly drawn to you.
Your life has been anything but easy. Yet you hold yourself with such humility and grace. There is no greater gift than being allowed to watch the woman you have become. The excitement of the experiences you will face and being a part of that is truly the best gift I could be given. So these two words do not seem to be enough but THANK YOU. I inspire to be half the women you have become and I am proud of you in every way.
Love Always,
Mom
